A stretch of the M6 motorway has been closed due to a ‘serious’ crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Sunday.
The northbound is currently closed between J19 and J20 in Cheshire with motorists being warned the motorway will be closed for several hours.
“Cheshire Police will be carrying out investigation work, therefore the closure is expected to be protracted and in place for several hours today” a spokesperson for the National Highways said.
Southbound traffic is also being diverted around the scene near J19.
An air ambulance has landed in an adjacent field to J19 roundabout. Both police and paradmedics are at the scene.

There remains a delay of approximately 45 mins and three miles of congestion on the northbound M6 approaching J19 but this will start to ease now.
A spokesperson for the National Highways says there are “getting patrols in position to re-open the motorway now with just a lane closure in place through the junction northbound. The road should be open to traffic within the next few minutes”.
However, “it’ll take a while for the delays to clear”.
