A man has been left seriously injured after he was struck by a car in Co Monaghan in the early hours of Saturday.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident on Broad Road at 1 am after an SUV struck the man.
The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
The scene has been preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and local traffic diversions are currently in place.
Gardaí is appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
They are also appealing to road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage (including dashcams) to make it available to the investigation.
