A man is dead after being hit by two cars on South Miami Boulevard in Durham early Saturday morning, according to the Durham Police Department.
Authorities said that around 4:20 a.m., a 2016 Honda Accord was traveling north on S. Miami Blvd when it hit 55-year-old Ernest Howard who was walking in the road. At the time, he was not walking on a crosswalk or near an intersection.

While waiting for first responders to arrive, Howard was hit a second time by an unknown car traveling north on S. Miami Blvd. The second car left the scene, police said. Howard was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial investigation does not suggest impairment was a factor in this crash. The incident remains under investigation. Police did not say if there were any charges or arrests pending.
The WRAL Breaking News Tracker was on the scene of the crash around 5:30 a.m. The accident happened near the intersection of S Miami Blvd and Patriot Dr, both of which are right along the IBM campus.
Video footage shows a red car that was crashed off toward the side and several law enforcement vehicles surrounding it.
