The incident happened yesterday afternoon.
A man has died after an incident at a scrapyard in Altrincham.
Emergency services rushed to Broadheath yesterday afternoon following reports of an incident at local firm J. Davidson Scrap.
Craven Road was closed off as police, paramedics and fire crews all responded to the scene on Atlantic Street.
An air ambulance was also seen landing close to the scene.
“Emergency services were called to an incident at a business on Atlantic Street, Broadheath, at around 3.15pm yesterday,” a spokesperson said.
“Sadly, a man in his 40s was pronounced dead. Enquiries are currently ongoing.”
The Manchester Evening News is reporting that the man suffered a cardiac arrest after a car fell on him.
It’s understood the victim was not a J Davidson employee, but worked for a company based in Lithuania.
A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said: “We are aware and working with Greater Manchester Police.”
A spokesperson for J Davidson added: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the fatal incident on the 17th. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family and loved ones affected by the loss.
“We are committed to offering support to the family and those affected.
“We are fully co-operating with the police and Health and Safety Executive (HSE).”
The spokesman said that until the police and HSE concluded their enquiries, they were unable to comment on the cause of the incident.
