Authorities in Virginia's Fairfax County are investigating a car crash that claimed the life of a man in the Reston area on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD), officers responded to the intersection of Soapstone Drive and Golf Course Square around 2:40 p.m., where a vehicle left the roadway and went into a tree line.

Police confirmed that the driver, a man, was the only person inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Crash Reconstruction detectives were called to the scene to find out what led to the fatal incident.

As of Thursday afternoon, Soapstone Drive remained closed between Golf Course Square and Winged Foot Court while investigators worked. Drivers were advised to use other routes until the scene cleared.
