A man was found dead Monday morning inside a car parked in the lot of an auto body in Los Angeles’ Palms area.
The car was in the 10200 block of West Washington Boulevard, near the Sony Pictures Entertainment studio. Nearby streets were closed for the investigation.

The person was identified as a man in his 40s who was shot in the head. He died at the scene.
A woman who said she is the girlfriend to the man who was shot told NBCLA that she spoke on the phone with him Monday morning.
“I was talking to my boyfriend on the phone when he just told me he was going to go into work already,” the woman, who asked not to be identified, said. “We were about to hang up when I heard him say, ‘Hey, hey,” and that was the last thing I heard from him. I didn’t hear anything else. Somebody else answered telling me he had been shot in the head.”
Police said there was evidence of several gunshots.
More details about the shooting were not immediately available. No arrests were reported early Monday.

Investigators are checking for security camera video in the neighborhood, police said.
