GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man was placed in handcuffs after he drove past the barricade set up for the Grand Blanc Township church attack investigation and police found what appeared to be a gun inside the car.
Local 4 cameras were rolling just before noon Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, when a red car drove past the barricade that was set up on the roadway less than a quarter of a mile away from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The car went past the “road closed” sign, but a police officer motioned for the driver to stop, he did so.
Police asked the 21-year-old driver to step out of the car, and he was placed in handcuffs.
Officials from the FBI and Michigan State Police searched the car. During that search, they removed what appeared to be a gun from the car.
No official information has been released.
It’s unclear if the driver knew that he was going past a barricade linked to the church attack. Police are being very careful about who has access beyond that point.
Four people were killed and at least 10 were injured Sunday when a man drove his pickup truck into the church and then fired shots with an assault rifle, according to police.
The attacker is accused of intentionally setting the church on fire before he was killed by authorities in the parking lot.
