VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A man was hospitalized after a car hit his towed vehicle on Almena Drive and M-40 near Lawton late Wednesday night.
News Channel 3 crews arrived on-scene at 11 p.m. and observed at least two vehicles being pulled by a wrecker.
A 40-year-old Coloma man slid off Almena Drive and M-40. While he was outside and his car was getting towed, another driver rear-ended it, causing it to push into the man, according to Michigan State Police Sergeant Tyler Spoelma.
The Coloma man was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, but he is now in stable condition, MSP officials said.
The road was shut down for roughly two hours, and personnel from the Michigan State Police and Van Buren County Sheriff's Office were at the scene.
