A man in his 70s is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a car in Epsom.
The incident between a silver Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian happened in High Street at around 7.30am today (January 21).
Officers attended and the man was taken to hospital where his injuries were assessed as life-threatening.
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old man from Redhill, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The High Street remains closed between the junctions off Church Street and Ashley Road whilst investigations continue.
Ashley Road is also shut until the junction with The Parade.
Detours are in operation for bus routes 166, 267, 293, 406, 418 and S2.
Surrey Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to get in touch.
The force is seeking CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident.
