That's the latest from Superintendent Brendan Gorman from the Blacktown Police Area Command.
He was giving an update after a man was shot dead in a public place in Sydney's west.
The superintendent says he can't comment on whether the shooting has gang or underworld ties.
"At this stage, that will form part of the investigation," he says.
"Police will encourage anyone with information … to come forward to police, and we'll investigate and take action to the fullest of the law."
The crime scene was nearby the local police station.
Superintendent Gorman says officers were "on the scene within seconds".
"Police heard shots being fired and responded immediately."
