NEW LENOX, IL — New Lenox police interrupted a car burglary early Tuesday morning, after a man matching the suspect’s description was also spotted peering into cars in Manhattan hours earlier.
Police were called to the 1500 block of Knight Avenue just before 4 a.m., for a report of a suspicious man seen walking through the neighborhood alone and carrying a backpack. Police arrived and saw the man partially inside of a vehicle.
An officer attempted to stop the man, but he fled on foot and could not be found. He reportedly made off with two old wallets containing nothing of value, police said.
The incident is under review for further investigation or case closure.
