Maruti Suzuki e Vitara All Set To Launch Today – Here Is What To Expect
Maruti Suzuki, which is India’s largest carmaker, is all geared up to enter the electric vehicle market in a big way today with the launch of the e Vitara, its first global electric SUV. For a company known for its petrol and CNG cars, this marks a major developmental shift and an important moment for India’s growing EV space.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is built on a completely new skateboard-style EV platform known as 40PL and is co-developed with Toyota. This type of platform places the battery on the floor, which helps create more cabin space and keeps the vehicle stable. This SUV measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height, which makes it a proper mid-size electric SUV.
The exterior styling looks modern and bold with 18-inch wheels, tri-slash LED lights and a charging port on the front fender. This SUV will be offered in 10 colour choices, including four dual-tone options.

Maruti Suzuki will offer the e Vitara with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options. These batteries are paired with three different power outputs- 144 bhp (2WD), 171 bhp (2WD) and 181 bhp (AWD), this version comes with two motors, one at the front and one at the rear, giving it electric 4WD capability.
The top variant uses the ALLGRIP-e system, which improves grip and stability on rough roads. A special trail mode helps in uneven or slippery conditions. From the inside, the e Vitara gets a premium cabin with a dual-screen setup, including a digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment unit. The centre console features a floating design with multiple USB ports.
The second row is flexible with a 20:40:20 split, sliding seats and reclining adjustment. Features like wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a Harman audio system make it modern.
The SUV also offers ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, drive modes, an electric sunroof and connected-car tech via Suzuki Connect.
Safety is a major highlight too with 7 airbags, level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), these features make the e Vitara one of the safest EVs in its segment.
Maruti Suzuki has already started production at its Gujarat plant and interestingly, even before its India launch, the company exported 6,000 units to Europe and the UK, which signals strong global goals.
