A man says a home health aid stabbed his mother and then got into a car and tried to ram it into the victim's house in Massapequa.
The alleged suspect's car was still parked on the front lawn of the victim's home at the intersection of Bay Drive and Merrick Road Wednesday evening.
Kery Kilgannon tells Eyewitness News that home security footage from the home captured the moment his 85-year-old mother Wendy Wilson's overnight caregiver stabbed her while she was asleep.
He says video then shows the caregiver climbing into bed with Wilson before leaving the house.
Kilgannon says what happened next is a little unclear, but he says outside security footage appears to show the aide trying to hit the house with her car before fleeing.
Wilson wasn't discovered until Wednesday morning when the daytime caregiver showed up.
Family members say Wilson suffered a punctured lung and would need surgery.
It was unclear Wednesday afternoon if the suspect was in police custody.
Police activity prompted nearby schools including Massapequa High School and Birch Lane Elementary School to implement a lockout for about 90 minutes.
