RATON, N.M. — More than 500 collector cars and trucks and parts are set to go on the auction block at the historic Dorsey Mansion in northeastern New Mexico.
Freedom Car Auctions is selling the Dorsey Mansion Hoard Collector Car Collection. It consists of hundreds of various cars and trucks – from antiques and classics to project cars and resto-mods – plus parts and more.
The collection consists of American, French, English, German, Chinese, Japanese and Italian cars Sandra Henning and Dr. Roger Akers collected over several decades. Henning is selling most of their collection after Akers died last September.
The cars have been sitting in five barns on the property. The bidding is happening now but you can see the cars between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 10-13. The online-only auction of the cars is Oct. 14 at 10 a.m.
You can also take photos with the cars, Oct. 10-13. Ashley with The Radiant Lens is offering 30-minute photo sessions – $175 in the car of your choice. You can contact her on her website.
The Dorsey Mansion was built in Raton back in 1868. The mansion is on the National Register of Historic Places.
