MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. (WVVA) – Key investments for West Virginia to strengthen the state’s infrastructure and public safety are coming to Mercer County.
Senators Jim Justice and Shelley Capito voted to pass a bipartisan appropriation minibus which aids Mercer County’s police force, with $350,000 funding police vehicles and equipment. The second minibus package will cover other counties across the state, focusing on commerce, justice, and scientific developments regarding energy and water.
County Commissioner Greg Puckett wants to assure Mercer County citizens that the funding will be utilized to keep citizens safe.
“We’ll have enough money to get what we need. Certainly, there’s never enough money to get what really need, but this will help in the long run,” said Greg Puckett, Mercer County commissioner.
Minibus funding would be used to get the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department five new police cars with up-to-date radio equipment. Puckett would like to thank Justice and Capito for securing the county proper funds to make their community a safer place.
