Built on a shared passion for craftsmanship, customization, and motorsports, Mini John Cooper Works and Deus Ex Machina have partnered for two design-centric models.
The first, the Mini JCW Electric, features 190 kilowatt, 258 horsepower. The second, a base Mini JCW with combustion engine, features 170 kilowatt, 231 horsepower. Each model is built with a large X across the top to mark the significant partnership.
The two JCW models come together with similar seams, levers, switches, and overall interior. However, there is a vast contrast in color. Nonetheless, each model features graphical geometric elements, bright colors, and expressive graphics to pay homage to Mini’s history.
In a blast from the past, many of the design features pay homage to the 1960s and 70s rally makes that surround Mini’s popularity. From perforated headlights to conical-shaped mirrors, pieces of history point back to icons from the 64 Monte Carlo Rally and the BMC Works Mini Cooper S.
Now, Australian brand Deus Ex Machina might not be the most household name, but before becoming a global clothing line, the brand did have roots in custom motorcycles. With an emphasis on the custom, outgoing side, the partnership fits with Mini’s unique, collaborative identity.
In 2023, Deus’ Carby Tuckwell and Matt Wiley united their motorsport livery fascinations to create a Mini Cooper S specialty paint finish. Two years later, a similar crossover comes to life with a full-fledged collaboration between designers.
Woven into partnership, the two brands come together for a special apparel collection launching globally across Deus Ex Machina’s network. Furthermore, the Mini JCW models premiered at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, Germany, in early September.
