Gerald, whose father once worked at a Plymouth dealership, has spent years acquiring and preserving cars that today stand as relics of Detroit’s golden muscle era.

Among the first vehicles to catch the eye is a 1970 Plymouth Cuda finished in orange, left parked outdoors for nearly 30 years. Though far from pristine, the car’s stance and slapstick automatic shifter recall the height of Mopar’s muscle dominance. Nearby sits Gerald’s own high school car, a 1973 Barracuda he converted into a four-speed 340 pistol grip, and a 1972 Duster with its original shark tooth grille intact. Each carries scars of time but also the spirit of an era when Chrysler ruled the stoplight wars.
The centerpiece, however, is a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner painted In Violet—known as Plum Crazy to Dodge fans. This particular example bears a “V” in its VIN, confirming it as a factory 440 Six Barrel car, one of only about 1,300 hardtops produced in this configuration. Despite the loss of its original engine, the car retains its fender tag and other identifiers, leaving little doubt about its authenticity.
While auction records show such V-Code cars selling into six figures, Gerald once let this one go for just $5,000. It stands as proof that true barn finds, the kind enthusiasts dream about, are still out there—sometimes hiding in plain sight.
