MORTON GROVE, Ill. (WLS) — A car struck and killed an 89-year-old man as he tried to cross a north suburban road on Friday morning, police said.
Morton Grove police responded to the crash in the 6800-block of Dempster Street just after 6 a.m.
Police believe a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling eastbound on Dempster when it struck man, who was walking southbound as he tried to cross the street.
The man, who suffered serious injuries, was taken to Lutheran General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officials identified the pedestrian as Boris A. Nudelman of Skokie.
Police said the Jetta's driver is cooperating with investigators.
Dempster Street was temporarily closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
