NEW LONDON — A motorcyclist was seriously injured after he struck a police cruiser while it was responding to a call, New London police said.
The New London police car was responding to a call for service at Ocean Beach Park Sunday night, according to a release issued by the New London Police Department.

At about 10:30 p.m. near Neptune Ave. and Park Street in New London, a motorcycle struck the police car. Police said the driver of the motorcycle, whose name was not released, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.
An investigation into the cause of the crash, conducted by the New London Police Accident Reconstruction Team, is ongoing.
