A murder investigation has been launched after a man died earlier today following an attack in a Wolverhampton car park.
The man in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries in the early hours of today (Wednesday) after being attacked, but died shortly after.
West Midlands Police believes the man was attacked in a car park off Dudley Road and officers are treating his death as a murder.
A police cordon was in place around a car park off Dudley Road in Blakenhall, near Phoenix Park.
The force has asked for anyone with information that could help the investigation to get in touch as soon as possible.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We’ve started a murder investigation after a man has tragically died after being attacked in Wolverhampton.
“We were alerted to a man in his 20s being taken to hospital with serious injuries at around 1.30am today (October 22).
“Sadly, he was confirmed dead a short time later and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this deeply distressing time.
“Following prompt enquiries we now believe he was attacked on a car park off Dudley Road.
“We’re in the early stages of our investigation and a scene remains in place there while we carry out CCTV, house-to-house and other enquiries in the area.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area as we seek to establish exactly what happened and offer reassurance to the community.
