CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Deputies say a New Bern man has been charged after a car chase ended in a crash.
Monday just before 9:30 p.m., Craven County deputies say they got a shots fired call in the area of Wildlife Road and U.S. 17.
The caller told deputies someone used counterfeit money to buy a dog from them on Antioch Road. The caller followed the vehicle when they said someone inside it started to shoot.
The sheriff’s office says deputies tried to stop the vehicle on U.S. 17 in Bridgeton, but the driver refused to stop. That led to a chase, which ended when the suspect vehicle crashed.
Deputies say Dylan Brite was the driver and has been arrested for felony flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana and speeding.
The 20-year-old New Bern man is being held under no bond, pending his first appearance.
The sheriff’s office is still investigating what led up to the chase.
