E Express Car Wash officially opens Tuesday.
A few dozen people gathered at E Express Car Wash Tuesday to celebrate the official opening of the new facility.
The event started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony shortly after noon, and afterwards people had the opportunity to tour the facility and enjoy refreshments.
“We just want to provide everybody with a safe, fast and friendly experience,” said owner Curtis Emmons Jr. “We’re looking forward to cleaning your car.”
He explained that the car wash is outfitted with the best equipment possible as he led a tour of the facility. He walked attendees through the car wash process that begins with the prep station. After that, the vehicle goes through a variety of different types of brushes, a high-pressure wash, rinsing, buffing and drying.
One aspect he highlighted was the conveyer belt system the car wash uses to pull vehicles through the washing procedure instead of a rail or roller like some other car washes uses. With the belt system, Emmons said, “You don’t have to worry about scratches.”
Following a tour of the area vehicles go through, he provided a look behind the scenes. Running parallel the area for cars is a room with air compressors, chemicals, pumps and other equipment needed to operate the wash. One interesting piece of equipment in there is the reclaim system, which allows the car wash to gather, purify and reuse the bulk of the water used when washing cars.
There is also a small lobby at the wash and expansive vacuuming bay with more than 30 spots.
The new car wash offers a variety of different washing options along with monthly memberships that allow for unlimited washing.
Located at 3901 S. Fort Hood St in Killeen, its hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
