An injured female pedestrian was found in the right southbound lane on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard, Bruckhart said.
Medical aid was given at the scene and she was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where she died from her injuries, he said.
Police are still looking for her identity, Bruckart said.
The operator of the vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with police, he said. The driver told investigators that he was traveling south on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard when a female was "suddenly in front of his vehicle." Police don't know where she entered the roadway, Bruckhart said.
