New details emerge after Angie Stone’s fatal car accident in Alabama in March 2025.

The “No More Rain” singer died at age 63 when she was killed in a crash that involved an 18-wheeler truck, per reports from People. The family reportedly has an active lawsuit, suing the drivers involved, including the trucking company and truck manufacturer, according to the Associated Press.
The lawsuit, filed in Lawrenceville, Georgia, reports the driver of the Angie’s Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van lost control and flipped over. The R&B singer was headed home from a performance as a passenger in the vehicle with her bandmates.

It’s been revealed that Angie survived the initial crash and was trying to escape the vehicle for help when the 18-wheeler carrying a load of sugar reportedly slammed into the van. The lawsuit claims the singer was ejected from the van, causing her to be pinned under it, when she died after the impact. Sheila Hopkins, still inside the van, suffered injuries.
Her children, Diamond Stone and Michael D’Angelo Archer, are now taking legal action claiming the 18-wheeler driver “was not paying proper attention to the roadway ahead of him” and that the truck’s collision mitigation system malfunctioned and failed to register the stalled van.
The Grammy-nominated singer’s family is seeking repayment for “hospital bills, attorney fees, damages, and anything else a judge deems appropriate.”
