There were 45 212 new passenger car registrations in Bulgaria in January to November 2025, an increase of 12.4 per cent compared with January – November 2024, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, ACEA, said on December 23.
Of the new passenger car registrations in Bulgaria in January to November 2025, a total of 36 816 were petrol cars, 3855 diesel, 2184 battery-electric, 1799 hybrid-electric and 525 plug-in hybrid.
Three were in the category “other”, which includes fuel-cell electric vehicles, natural gas vehicles, LPG, E85/ethanol, and other fuels.
ACEA said that by November 2025 year-to-date (YTD), new EU car registrations increased by 1.4 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Despite the recent positive momentum, overall volumes remain well below pre-pandemic levels, the association said.
The battery-electric car market share reached 16.9 per cent YTD, in line with projections for the year, yet a level that still leaves room for growth to stay on track with the transition.
Hybrid-electric vehicles lead as the most popular power type choice among buyers, with plug-in hybrids continuing to gain momentum.
Up until November 2025, battery-electric cars accounted for 16.9 per cent of the EU market share, an increase from the low baseline of 13.4 per cent in November 2024 YTD.
Hybrid-electric car registrations captured 34.6 per cent of the market, remaining the preferred choice among EU consumers.
Meanwhile, the combined market share of petrol and diesel cars fell to 36.1 per cent, down from 45.8 per cent over the same period in 2024.
