WARREN, Ohio – Sales of new vehicles to residents of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties improved nearly 4% in 2025 compared with the previous year, despite sales slipping during December, according to data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association.
Local customers purchased a total of 27,681 new cars and trucks last year, compared with 26,643 purchased in 2024, an increase of 3.9%, GCAD’s latest report shows.
Sales in December, however, softened compared with the same period in 2024, according to data. Dealers sold 2,179 new vehicles to Mahoning Valley residents last month, compared with 2,428 sold during December 2025, a drop of 10.2%.
Boardman Subaru sold the most new vehicles last year with 1,757 units. Fairway Ford, Canfield, posted the second-highest volume sales of new vehicles with 1,425; Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, reported the third highest sales with 1,338 units sold; Ken Ganley Kia, Boardman, reported it sold 1,309 units through the year; and #1 Cochran Chevrolet listed the fifth highest sales volumes of 1,263 units sold.
For December, Boardman Subaru posted the highest volume sales with 141, followed by Fairway Ford with 125, Ken Ganley Kia with 107, Toyota of Boardman with 100 and #1 Cochran Buick GMC with 97.
Sales of used vehicles during 2025 improved more than 3% over 2024, the dealers report said. Dealers reported sales of 22,989 used cars and trucks to residents of the three counties last year, compared with 22,294 sold in 2024, an increase of 3.1%.
December sales of used vehicles also improved compared with the same period a year earlier. Last month, dealers reported total sales of 1,699 used vehicles, compared with 1,651 during the same month in 2024, an increase of 2.9%.
