LUMBERTON, Miss. (WDAM) – It’s out with the old and in with the new for the Lumberton Police Department.
In the last two weeks, you may have noticed less of their old design and more of the new one.
The city purchased five new cars at the end of last year through a leasing program.
These vehicles are hitting the streets one by one as the finishing touches are applied.
Chief Elsie Cowart says it’s not just about the look but also about dependability.
“Less repair costs. They’re brand new cars. They’re dependable. So we can get to them without having accidents, breaking down. We thank our mayor and board for the support. All of our citizens. And we’re getting a lot of feedback from them with the new designs. They’re very impressed with it,” she said.
