JONESBORO, Ark. — A 21-year-old man was arrested after police said he stole a car, led officers on a high-speed chase, and crashed while trying to flee. However, he was already out on bond from a shooting in 2024, according to court records.
Jalen Jakel Mccullough, 21, was arrested on October 19 after officers tracked a stolen Dodge Challenger using an Apple AirTag hidden inside the vehicle, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Jonesboro Police Department.
The alleged victim told police his vehicle was taken from his home on Glitterman Drive and that he found broken glass near where it had been parked, indicating a possible break-in.
Officers located the vehicle using the AirTag’s signal, but it reportedly began to flee. The vehicle fled at speeds exceeding 100 mph, police said, adding the driver ran multiple stop signs and appeared to lose control while swerving side to side. The pursuit was called off for safety reasons, but officers later spotted the vehicle again on Rhonda Drive near Parker Road.
According to police, the driver swerved to avoid hitting a patrol unit, then struck a stop sign and crashed into a ditch. Officers arrested Mccullough without further incident.
Police searched the vehicle and reported finding the victim’s firearm, which had been left there before the theft.
Mccullough faces several charges, including theft of a vehicle (a Class B felony), theft of a firearm and breaking or entering a vehicle (both Class D felonies), along with criminal mischief, fleeing, reckless driving, speeding, and other misdemeanors.
On Monday, Special Judge Ralph Wilson set Mccullough’s bond at $2,500.
Mccullough is already out on bond awaiting trial related to a shooting in Sept. 2024. In that case, officers found two cars and a residence had been shot up. Police arrested Mccullough and two juveniles. Judge David Boling set bail at $75,000 cash or surety but that was later reduced by a circuit judge to $50,000. Trial is scheduled for next month, although a forenstic mental evaluation was ordered, which could delay the case.
Now, he may also face a bond revocation hearing.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
