The next generation of the Toyota Corolla is on the way, and its global debut is drawing closer. Toyota recently showcased a new concept at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, giving a clear preview of what the upcoming Corolla could look like. The current 12th-generation Corolla has been on sale since 2018, and the new model is expected to launch in late 2026 or early 2027.

The new Toyota Corolla concept gets an all-new design that is quite different from the current model. At the front, it features a full-width LED light bar with sharp L-shaped LED elements above. Additional slatted LEDs below the light bar merge into the air intake area, giving the car a sleek and modern look.
There is a steeply raked windshield, a clean bonnet and standard wing mirrors, which indicate that this concept is quite close to a production-ready version. Other key design highlights include a coupe-style roofline, a kinked window line, a ducktail rear spoiler, a rear LED light bar and large 21-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the new Corolla concept focuses on space and minimalism. The dashboard has a clean layout with most controls grouped behind the steering wheel along with the digital driver display. A passenger display may also be offered as an option.
The floating centre console has its own small screen for climate control and comes with a unique car-shaped gear selector. The open space between the front seats suggests that the platform may support electric powertrains, making the interior feel more airy and futuristic.
Toyota has confirmed that the next-gen Corolla will be available with a wide range of powertrains. This includes a full electric version, a plug-in hybrid, a strong hybrid and a regular internal combustion engine (ICE) option. However, detailed power and performance figures are yet to be revealed.
While Toyota has not announced an exact launch date, the next-gen Corolla is expected to arrive globally by late 2026 or early 2027. More details regarding features, variants and market-specific powertrains are likely to be revealed closer to the launch.
