Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) achieved a new monthly delivery record last month as its main brand resumed growth while both sub-brands set new highs.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker delivered 40,397 vehicles in October, surpassing the 40,000-unit mark for the first time and marking its third consecutive month of record-breaking performance, according to data released today.
This represents a 92.59 percent increase from the 20,976 units delivered in the same month last year and a 16.25 percent rise from September’s 34,749 deliveries.
All three brands under the company’s umbrella saw growth in October, particularly the mass-market and family-oriented sub-brand Onvo.
The Nio main brand delivered 17,143 vehicles in October, marking a 2.92 percent year-on-year increase and reversing five consecutive months of year-on-year declines.
This marks the highest monthly delivery volume for the Nio brand since May, representing a 24.88 percent increase from September’s 13,728 units.
This growth was primarily driven by the third-generation ES8, with the updated SUV reaching its 10,000th delivery yesterday — just 40 days after its market launch.
Nio officially launched the third-generation ES8 at Nio Day 2025 on September 20, with deliveries commencing the following day on September 21.
The ES8 delivered 2,803 units in September — its highest volume since January 2019 –making it the third-highest delivering Nio model, according to data compiled by CnEVPost. October figures are not yet available.
Deliveries of the all-new ES8 would accelerate further in November, with production capacity expected to increase by 70 percent compared to October, Nio’s assistant vice president of brand and communications Ma Lin said yesterday on Weibo.
In December, the company would strive to further boost production capacity, aiming for additional deliveries beyond the 15,000-unit baseline, Ma said.
Earlier today, Nio announced its other SUV, the ES6, reached the 300,000th production milestone.
The family-oriented Onvo sub-brand delivered 17,342 vehicles in October, surpassing its previous record of 16,434 units set in August.
This represents a 301.53 percent year-on-year increase and a 13.75 percent month-on-month growth.
Since its official launch in late July, the Onvo L90 SUV has surpassed 10,000 monthly deliveries for three consecutive months, Nio said.
The company’s statement did not mention specific figures for the L90, but CnEVPost learned from an insider source that the SUV delivered a record 11,776 units in October, with cumulative deliveries reaching 33,348 units.
The L90 was launched on July 31, offering six- and seven-seat configurations, with deliveries commencing August 1.
Onvo’s inaugural model, the five-seat L60 SUV, was officially launched on September 19, 2024.
On September 19 this year, marking the L60’s one-year anniversary, Onvo launched the updated L60, with deliveries starting October 26.
Earlier today, Onvo announced it had reached its 110,000th delivery. The latest figure indicates the Nio sub-brand delivered at least 2,379 vehicles today, considering cumulative deliveries stood at 107,621 units as of the end of October.
Firefly delivered 5,912 vehicles in October, marking its third consecutive month of record-breaking performance and a 2.37 percent increase from September.
Nio officially launched the Firefly brand at Nio Day 2024 on December 21, 2024, positioning it to compete with Mini and Smart. The brand’s namesake first model was launched on April 19.
The Nio sub-brand introduced a new special edition model on October 11, limited to 666 units, marking its second such launch since late August.
