This police supercar doesn’t chase criminals but helps fight addiction with a QR code and a mission to change lives through community outreach
Authorities in New Jersey have added a Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato to their fleet, but not for the reasons you might expect. This V10-powered supercar isn’t gearing up for high-speed chases or late-night patrols.
Instead, it’s been brought in to serve a very different mission, raising awareness about opioid addiction and connecting residents with resources that could help save lives.

The Huracan Sterrato, which has been temporarily loaned to the Garfield Police Department by local dealership Lamborghini Paramus, has been adorned in a special livery and aims to spark conversations and break the stigma surrounding addiction.
Among the details in the livery is a scannable QR code that links directly to The Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources. Once scanned, users are instantly connected to a 24/7 live navigator who can offer support, guidance, and referrals for anyone seeking help.
Rather than serving active duty on the streets, the Huracan will appear at various community events, youth programs, and internal department functions. The first of these events took place on December 18 at the 37th Annual PBA Toy Drive at the Closter Fire House, providing members of the local community with their first chance to see the car up close.
Along with the unique livery, which draws from real Garfield PD patrol car graphics, the Huracan has been fitted with a police-style blue light bar mounted on the roof. Lamborghini Paramus has agreed to keep the vehicle in its current form until at least June of next year, giving the campaign several months to build visibility.
As far as high-performance police cars go, the Huracan Sterrato would likely be up to the task of catching crooks. Not only does it offer enough performance to outpace the vast majority of cars on the road, but thanks to the jacked-up ride height, it’s more than capable of handling rough roads, loose surfaces, and the occasional need for serious speed.
