One person is dead after an early morning crash near Exit 181 of I-24 Eastbound on Sunday, December 14.
The Chattanooga Police Department says officers responded to the Fourth Ave exit area around 3:35am.
Investigators say the victim’s car left the roadway on the right side, striking the guardrail and rotating.
The car then hit a tree, and came to a final rest against a fence, where the car caught fire.
First responders were unable to extract the driver, who was later pronounced dead on the scene. Their identity is unknown at this time.
Chattanooga firefighters responded to the scene to extinguish the fire.
Police are still investigating what led up to and caused the crash. The department is asking people to call 423-698-2525 if they have any information.
