One person is dead after being hit by a car in Cold Springs on Saturday night.
Reno Police say the crash happened around 7 p.m. near White Lake Parkway and Sandpiper Drive, where multiple pedestrians were crossing the road outside a marked crosswalk. Two of them were struck. One pedestrian self-transported to a local hospital, while the other died at the scene.
Personnel from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, Truckee Meadows Fire, and REMSA all responded to the call. The Reno Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) is now handling the case.
According to investigators, the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating. Early indications suggest impairment was a factor in the crash.
White Lake Parkway was shut down shortly after the collision, from about 7:05 p.m. until just after midnight, while crews investigated and cleared the area.
