A serious crash shut down multiple lanes on Interstate 40 eastbound near the intersection with I-440 on Friday morning.
The crash happened just before 6 a.m. Upon arrival, Raleigh police officers found two cars involved, one of which was overturned, trapping the driver inside and blocking two lanes.
Raleigh fire was able to take the person out of the car, who was then transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic piled up for miles as investigators worked to clear the road. As of 6:40 a.m., police started to clear the lanes and traffic was starting to move a little quicker. As of 7:30 a.m., the lanes cleared.
