Pedal Power is returning to the Bay
Pedal Power is returning to the Bay.
The ever-popular Pedal Kart Grand Prix is back. The last event was held in 2019 with hundreds of spectators cheering on charity fund-raising drivers on Torre Abbey Meadows.
Originally launched by the Round Table over 42 years ago, the event quickly became a much-anticipated highlight of the local calendar.
In 2009, the Sunrise Rotary Club proudly took over its organisation, ensuring that the tradition continued to bring the community together year after year.
Throughout its long and vibrant history, one name has been ever-present, Stephen Holdup, whose dedication and involvement since the very beginning have helped shape the event into the beloved community celebration it is today.
For more than four decades, the family-friendly race has captured the hearts of residents and visitors alike, offering a unique blend of fun, fitness, and local spirit.
Now the event is set to make a long-awaited and exciting return, thanks to the enthusiasm of “Q” from Q-Ball Media Ltd.
He says: “With a fresh new look and a renewed sense of energy, this iconic Torbay tradition is ready to embark on its next chapter.”
For the first time the event has switched to the grounds of Rowcroft Hospice in Torquay.
In partnership with local Rotary groups, community organisations, and valued suppliers, the event will not only deliver pedal-powered excitement but also raise vital funds to support Rowcroft.
Q said: “Bringing the Pedal Kart Grand Prix back has been a dream of mine since the last event in 2019.
“It’s more than just a race, it’s a celebration of community spirit, teamwork, and fun. To host it in support of Rowcroft Hospice makes it even more meaningful.”
The Grand Prix is being held on July 18 with public access between 10am and 5pm.
