Police closed a main road after a man was struck by a car in Birmingham today.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries after the collision near the junction of City Road and Sandon Road, in the Bearwood area, at 1.10pm.

He was rushed to hospital for further treatment.
West Midlands Police said the driver of a car was helping officers with their inquiries.
A police spokesman told BirminghamLive: "We've been called to a collision involving a car and pedestrian near the junction of City Road and Sandon Road, Birmingham.
"It happened at just after 1.10pm today (29 October) and a man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"The driver remained at the scene and is helping with our enquiries.
"A cordon is currently in place and anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website, or call 101, quote log 2381 of 29/10/25."

In a further update, Inrix posted: "A4040 City Road in both directions re-opened.
"Traffic returned to normal, accident cleared from B4182 Sandon Road to Wadhurst Road."
NX West Midlands said buses are on divert.
It posted on X: "Incident ongoing on City Road/Sandon Road #RottonPark."
Service 22 will be diverting in both directions via: Bearwood Road, High Street, Shireland Road and Portland Road.
"Apologies for any disruption to your journey."

Traffic data monitor Inrix said: "A4040 City Road in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident from B4182 Sandon Road to Wadhurst Road.
"B4182 Sandon Road is also closed. Ongoing since around 13:30. Diversion – via local bus services."
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman told BirminghamLive: “Crews arrived to find a pedestrian, a man, in a critical condition.
"The team of ambulance staff worked rapidly, with support from emergency service colleagues, to administer advanced life support and trauma care to the man.
"He was then conveyed by ambulance on blue lights and sirens to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further emergency trauma care.”
The injuried pedestrian received advanced trauma care by West Midlands Ambulance Service following the serious road traffic collision.
The ambulance service received multiple 999 calls reporting a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction of City Road and Sandon Road, at 1.11pm today.
Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma team responded to the scene.
The driver of a car who crashed into a pedestrian on City Road is helping police with their investigation.
