A pedestrian has died in a crash involving a car and a HGV on the A50.
Leicestershire Police attended the crash on the westbound carriageway near the Back Lane overpass, between junctions one and two in Derbyshire, close to the Leicestershire border, at 08:03 GMT on Wednesday.
Before the crash at Cavendish Bridge, the pedestrian – a man in his 70s – was believed to have been driving a Peugeot 107, which left the road and went into a ditch, Leicestershire Police said.
Emergency services and an air ambulance attended, and officers also assisted with traffic management, National Highways said.
Both drivers were uninjured in the crash, the force added.
Det Sgt Charlotte Mee, from the force's serious collision investigation unit, said: "It is believed prior to the collision the pedestrian was driving a blue Peugeot 107, which shortly before had left the road nearby and came to rest in a ditch."
Anyone who witnessed the crash – which involved the pedestrian, the HGV and a red Nissan Juke – the lead-up to it or has any dashcam footage, is asked to contact the force.
