A pedestrian in a wheelchair was hospitalized in critical condition on Monday night after being hit by a car in south Reno.
It happened around 7:50 p.m. in the area of South McCarran Boulevard and Plumas Street, according to a spokesperson for the Reno Police Department.
The pedestrian in the wheelchair was crossing McCarran and was hit by a car heading eastbound.
The driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash, and police say it appears the driver had a green light and was not likely to be violating any traffic laws.
East and westbound lanes of McCarran Boulevard were closed in the area, but reopened around 10:45 p.m.
The RPD’s Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation.
