A road was closed by police on Sunday evening after a crash between a car and a van. Police closed a portion of Derby Lane today, November 16, after a white MG and Volkswagen Transporter van collided, hitting a parked car in the process.
The crash in Old Swan led to the road being closed between Acanthus Road and Ionic Road, with two police cars in attendance when the ECHO arrived. Traffic was diverted down side roads while officers waited for the vehicles to be recovered.
Force Incident Manager (FIM) for Merseyside Police told the ECHO he believed two people had suffered minor injuries in the incident.
North West Ambulance Service and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are believed to have been in attendance earlier in the evening.
One person described the incident as a "very bad accident", stating all three emergency services were at the scene prior to the ECHO arriving.
The road was closed to traffic, although pedestrians were able to use the pavements while officers waited for recovery vehicles to arrive.
The MG sustained major damage to the front of the car while the airbags had appeared to have gone off in the van following the crash.
