A man was rushed to hospital after he was hit by an Audi this afternoon. Merseyside Police said emergency services were called to the scene on Abingdon Road in Walton at around 1.25pm today, October 31.
It followed reports that a man had been hit by an Audi near Asda. The man was rushed to hospital by ambulance for assessment and the driver of the car stopped at the scene, spokesperson for Merseyside Police said.
A road closure is in place, with an air ambulance believed to have landed nearby in response to the incident. Photos from the scene showed police blocking the road with several ambulances and paramedics at the scene.
In a statement, a Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that emergency services are in Walton following a serious RTC this afternoon, Friday 31 October.
"At around 1.25pm, we were called to Abingdon Road close to Asda to reports of a collision involving an Audi and a male pedestrian.
"The pedestrian was taken to hospital via ambulance for assessment. The driver stopped at the scene.
"A road closure is in place on Abingdon Road between Grandison Road and Lauriston Road. Please avoid the area as we deal with this incident.
