Police said the vehicle was seen entering the river near Wilford Suspension Bridge
Police are appealing for information after a car was spotted in the River Trent near Wilford Suspension Bridge.
Nottinghamshire Police was called to the scene at about 05:00 GMT on Saturday after the vehicle "was spotted entering the river".
A force spokesperson said the car was "suspected to have come from the vicinity of Wilford Grove", adding they are "increasingly concerned" as they try to trace the driver and any other occupants who may have been inside.
Any witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
Det Sgt Rachel Mayfield said: "Specialist teams have been working over the past day to track the vehicle and determine whether any occupants remain unaccounted for.
"As the investigation continues and we grow increasingly concerned, we are calling on the public for assistance."
