An elderly man has been taken to hospital with injuries after he was hit by a car in Kendal, police said.
Cumbria Police said officers were called to an incident on New Road and Bridge Street at 10.45am this morning. Paramedics also attended.
This was following reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle.
A man in his 80s, who was a pedestrian, has been taken to hospital with injuries, police say.
The road remains shut between New Road and Bridge Street, as well as along Aynam Road, because of the incident.
Police said the route could remain shut for ‘several hours’ and have advised motorists to take alternative routes.
A Forensic Collision Investigation Unit was also seen investigating.
As a result of the collision, Kendal’s roads are now severely congested because of the current closure along New Road, Bridge Street, and Aynam Road – impacting the town’s one-way system southbound.
