The facelifted 911 Turbo is expected to go hybrid and pack up to 700 hp
The Munich Motor Show kicks off next week and it appears Porsche will use the event to introduce a new 911. The company is keeping details under wraps, but confirmed plans to introduce a mysterious new model on September 7.
Porsche isn’t saying much, but they released a teaser image showing a 911 coupe under a sheet. While there isn’t much to see, the model has a pronounced rear spoiler. Porsche also teased it will be another legend that’s “faster than schnell.”

All of this suggests we’re looking at the facelifted 911 Turbo. While that remains to be seen, spy photographers have caught lightly camouflaged prototypes and they have a new front bumper with vertical fins in the intakes. We can also expect updated lighting units, a new rear bumper, and modified exhaust tips.

The upgrades should continue inside with a new 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster and an updated 10.9-inch infotainment system. They should be joined by a new start button as well as a host of other minor improvements.
The biggest question is the powertrain as the current model has a twin-turbo 3.7-liter six-cylinder engine that develops 572 hp (427 kW / 580 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. This climbs to 640 hp (477 kW / 650 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) in the 911 Turbo S.
Porsche hasn’t been shy about the car going hybrid and it’s expected to follow in the footsteps of the 911 GTS. The latter has a 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, a 1.9 kWh battery pack, and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with an integrated motor producing up to 54 hp (40 kW / 54 PS). This enables the model to have a combined output of 532 hp (397 kW / 539 PS) and 449 lb-ft (608 Nm).
When the car was introduced, Porsche noted it had 59 hp (44 kW / 60 PS) more than its predecessor. If the Turbo lineup gets a similar increase, we can expect outputs of around 630 hp (470 kW / 639 PS) and 700 hp (522 kW / 710 PS).
