I messed up yesterday and never ran the QOTD. Brain cramp on my part, blame it on the end of the year haze.

So, with that in mind, you get two QOTDs for the price of one. One is pretty obvious — what is the best car you drove in 2025? Whether it’s a rental, a car you test drove, a friend’s car, or whatever — what was the best one? Make sure you drove it in 2025 and it’s a 2024, 2025, or 2026 model year.
The second QOTD is this: Do you have any automotive New Year’s resolutions? Are you finally going to buy a project car to restore, or finish that project that’s in your garage? Are you going to road trip more? Buy a new car?
You know what to do. Sound off below.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Other than my own daily driver, a Genesis G70 I rented in SoCal. I didn’t have high expectations but it was a great freeway cruiser, accelerated well, seat was comfy and got better gas mileage than I would’ve imagined. Yes, I caught myself researching recent used ones. I’ll admit with the driver’s seat adjusted appropriately the rear seat had about as much legroom as my 1992 Mercury Capri – yep, that bad, only legless passengers need apply — and the trunk could’ve been a little bigger; but these are not faults I couldn’t tolerate.

My resolution is to give National Emerald Executive another swing when we’re in Seattle. The pickings have always been slim in Vegas but Ontario CA has had some great choices.
“Make sure you drove it in 2025 and it’s a 2024, 2025, or 2026 model year.”
• Eww, gross!
Resolutions:
Buy more tools. Buy nicer tools. My newest floor jack was delivered today — the 3-ton long-reach low-profile that goes higher than my others and has the foot pedal like Matthew Guy recommended. I would thank him but apparently I’m not allowed to comment on his writeups anymore?
Other resolutions:
Revel in my own success and wise choices more. Put down famous people so I feel better about myself. Stop taking life advice from people who make poor vehicle choices.
