Ram is bringing two of its meanest, strongest gas-guzzling pickups to market.
Ram is reviving the TRX — a high-performance version of its ever-popular 1500 pickup that comes equipped with a supercharged V-8 Hellcat engine under the hood. The truck maker also announced that it will deliver its most capable diesel Power Wagon, with a 6.7-liter Cummins High Output engine.
The move is another stride in Stellantis’ renewed quest to revert to a focus on internal combustion powertrains, a move made easier by President Donald Trump’s reversal of federal support for electric vehicle manufacturing.
On Dec. 4, Stellantis’ CEO said during a speech in London that the brand’s “mix” — meaning the variety of powertrains it offers — will significantly improve to match customer demand, instead of government regulation as a result of the Trump administration’s rollback of Corporate Average Fuel Emissions (CAFE) standards.
“We anticipated that, right?” Antonio Filosa said of the emission laws shifting, adding that the brand had already made a few significant changes to take advantage of a less-regulated market.
The previous CAFE standards, adjusted under then-President Joe Biden, laid out a steady climb of miles-per-gallon averages companies must meet by 2031. Biden’s rules directed automakers to average 50.4 mpg across their whole fleet, which is significantly easier with electrified vehicles. Trump is now proposing that by 2031, companies should average 34.5 mpg, which is doable without mass electrification.
And a TRX SRT pickup truck, one of the least fuel-efficient — but perhaps among the most thrilling — pickup trucks on the market, now makes sense for Ram to sell.
The Ram TRX (full name Ram 1500 SRT TRX) is Ram’s most powerful version of the TRX pickup, boasting 777 horsepower and 680 pound-feet of torque.
Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis said at the media unveiling of the truck that the 2027 TRX will be faster and more powerful than the previous TRX, which was discontinued after the 2024 model year. The brand anticipates the truck to accelerate from 0 to 60 in approximately 3.5 seconds. Ram is pitching the truck as both a capable off-roader as well as the world’s “fastest and most powerful production gas pickup truck” in the half-ton segment.
Kuniskis, who also serves as the head of Stellantis’ portfolio of North American brands, previously vowed to reignite the SRT (Street and Racing Technology) Performance Division of Stellantis — the high-speed arm of the company, responsible for vehicles such as the previous generation of Dodge’s SRT Charger and Challenger, as well as the SRT Durango.

With the revival of SRT in mind, Kuniskis said, “would anyone really bet against TRX making a comeback?”
The TRX has long been speculated on and was all but confirmed when Filosa told investors, while reviewing the company’s first half performance, that the vehicle would be returning to the market soon.
Ram said that the 2027 TRX will carry a $99,995 price tag, not including a $2,595 destination charge, and go on sale in the second half of 2026.
Ram is also adding an uber-strong diesel-powered truck to its portfolio of halo vehicles.
The 2027 Ram Power Wagon, equipped with a 6.7-liter Cummins High Output engine, will put out 470 horsepower and a best-in-class 1,075 pound-feet of torque. The Cummins diesel Power Wagon can tow 20,000 pounds of cargo, doubling the capability of its 2500-class gasoline counterpart. A 31-gallon fuel tank will come standard, and Ram estimates it will make for about 600 miles of range.
“Customers have been telling us for years to put the Cummins in the Power Wagon,” Kuniskis said. “And if our recent product announcements have shown anything, it’s that Ram is giving customers a choice and the trucks they want.”
The Ram Power Wagon with Cummins turbo diesel, just like the TRX, will go on sale in the second half of 2026, beginning at $88,470.
