A 47-year-old driver from Woippy was caught driving at 175 km/h in a 70 zone near Metz, receiving an immediate six-month driving ban and a court summon.
Last Saturday, police in Metz carried out speed checks on the Voie Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, a road where violations are frequent.
Towards the end of the day, officers stopped a 47-year-old driver from Woippy for extreme speeding. He had been driving at 175 km/h in a zone limited to 70 km/h. According to Le Républicain Lorrain, the man was immediately given a six-month driving ban and ordered to appear before the police court in Metz.
He was forced to leave the checkpoint as a passenger in his own car. Police later stated that such a high speed had never before been recorded in the Metz area.
