Police have advised people to 'avoid the area' with a road outside a Nottinghamshire prison has closed following a 'serious' crash.
The incident outside HMP Ranby in Straight Mile, Ranby, happened just before 8am on Monday, December 1.
A car and a pedestrian were involved, police said, but the extent of the victims' injuries has not been confirmed.
Investigations are now taking place to establish the circumstances of the incident but it is unclear how long the road closure will be in place.
A statement from Nottinghamshire Police reads: "Our officers have closed part of the Straight Mile, outside of HMP Ranby, after a serious collision.
"Police were called to the scene at 7.56am today following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area while investigations take place."
