Political representatives have expressed deep shock and sadness following a road traffic collision in County Fermanagh on Friday evening that claimed the lives of two men.
Sinn Féin MLA Jemma Dolan expressed her condolences, describing the incident as a tragedy that has “shocked the local community.”
Ms. Dolan said: “The news that two men have died following a collision is a tragedy and has shocked the local community.
“This is the latest tragic incident on our roads in recent weeks.
“I want to send my condolences to the victims’ families and friends at this time.
“My thoughts are with those involved in the collision and I also pay tribute to the emergency services who attended the scene.”
Ulster Unionist MLA Diana Armstrong said she was “deeply saddened by the tragic accident on the Derrylin Road at the Tiravally Road junction,” involving a Bus Éireann vehicle and a car. “My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the families and loved ones affected by this devastating loss,” she said.
Ms.Armstrong added that the busy north–south route “may require the Department for Infrastructure to consider any new measures that could improve safety.”
The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed the deaths in a statement issued on Saturday. A PSNI spokesperson said: “Shortly after 7pm [on Friday, November 28] , we received a report of a collision involving a Ford Kuga and a bus on the Derrylin Road.
“Officers attended, alongside emergency service partners, however the two occupants of the Kuga were pronounced deceased at the scene. There have been no reports of any serious injuries to the driver or passengers of the bus at this time.”
The spokesperson added that the Derrylin Road was closed overnight but reopened on Saturday morning. “Our enquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1276 of 28/11/25.”
