CBS6 has wondered where the fleet of gray patrol cars the New York State Police promised us almost a year ago is.
It was back in February when we told you State Police vehicles would switch from blue and gold to gray—a nod to the gray uniforms that troopers wear.

We just checked: of the 1,600 or so patrol vehicles currently in service, only one is gray. It's going to be just a little while longer before we see more of them.
A State Police spokesman tells CBS6 they are not repainting any existing cars, just ordering gray vehicles when it's time to replace them.
We’re told that the first wave of gray cars will be coming this summer—about 300 of them by the end of next year.
By the way, the gray paint is cheaper than the current blue, so there will be a cost savings.
