You know what drivers don’t want in their cars? Adds for new cars! Jeep, Ram, and Chrysler owners have been frustrated as ads for new vehicles appear on their infotainment screens. Stellantis claims the promotions have increased sales, though.
Some drivers are enraged by the audacity of Stellantis over a potentially invasive advertising method. People have shared that Jeep, Ram, and Chrysler models have been plagued by ads for new cars on their infotainment systems.
Owners of Jeep SUVs already made this annoyance clear when stellantis advertised extended vehicle warranties this way in February. Some owners received the ad despite being well over the mileage limit.
According to The Drive, a new message has been appearing on the center console. A message offers a $1,500 bonus incentive while the vehicle isn’t moving. It disappears when the vehicle moves, the user clicks the X icon, or after 15 seconds.
However, one Jeep Grand Cherokee owner was bothered by the message but then immediately bought a new Jeep Wrangler. Meanwhile, Ram and Chrysler owners say they’ll never buy from the brand again.
The system is meant to notify owners about recalls and health monitoring alerts. But Stellantis admits to sending a select number of owners a special offer.
Its goal is to deliver the best vehicle experience to customers and as a result, drivers have been taking advantage of the deals.
Luckily, you can quickly opt out of in-vehicle messaging by calling the customer care line at 800-777-3600. In my humble opinion, it would be better to allow owners to opt out directly from the infotainment screen.
